Talogy (formerly PSI Services) Public Safety Solutions Team assists cities and towns with the development and administration of selection and promotional exams for public safety positions. The City of Springfield, Illinois, will be testing for their Police Lieutenant and Sergeant positions which will involve an assessment center, and this process requires the recruitment of assessors from outside the department for whom the test is being administered.
Individuals at the rank of Police Sergeant or higher are being sought to work as assessment center assessors/evaluators and/or have had experience conducting assessment center or oral board evaluations. Note that, for this Assessment Center, recent retirees (within the past two years) can also participate.
Talogy will train all assessors on site.

The assessors will need to arrive Sunday, March 12, by early evening, participate in training the next day, Monday, March 13, and administer the Oral Assessment the following several days (Latest would be through Friday, March 17). The departure date and time will depend on the assessors’ respective role and the final number of candidates testing. That information will be provided at the time the selected assessors are notified.
The Sergeant exam will include three exercises: Incident Supervision, Subordinate Performance, and Structured Interview.
The Lieutenant exam will include three exercises: Incident Supervision, Community Meeting, and Structured Interview.
Talogy is also seeking one (1) assessor as Backup Assessor at the rank of Lieutenant or higher who will need to arrive Sunday, March 12, by early evening, participate in training Monday, March 13, and then be ready to fill a role as an assessor or role-player if needed on Tuesday, March 14, through Friday, March 17. Most likely, return travel would occur on Wednesday, March 15 (after 11 am) unless the assessor is placed into service due to another assessor being unable to continue. In that event, return travel would occur on Thursday, March 16, or Friday, March 17. Talogy would pay to have airline tickets changed if the extended stay was necessary.
As far as compensation, the Springfield Police Department will pay a stipend of $500/day for the training and test days to those officers eligible to receive such compensation. In terms of expenses, the Springfield PD and/or Talogy would make all necessary travel and hotel reservations and will pay directly for these expenses. They will also provide a per diem to cover meals and other AC-related expenses; this will be sent to the assessors after the assessment center is completed.
Those interested should download and complete the below Assessor Information Sheet and return it to patricia.corbett@talogy.com by Friday, February 24th, if at all possible; however, applications will be accepted after that date until all spots are filled. This information sheet provide the information necessary to create assessment panels based on the specific diverse demographics requested by the client. Those that respond first that meet the rank and length in rank criteria but that also fit into the panels to meet the requested demographics will be preferred. Once the panels are filled, a letter of confirmation will be e-mailed to those that were selected.
